RSPB Dolphinwatch

Description: Did you know that Aberdeen is one of the best places in Europe to see bottlenose dolphins?
RSPB Scotland staff and volunteers will be at Torry Battery every Thursday – Sunday, from 11am – 6pm until 20 August to help you to witness the dolphins spectacular displays and learn more about Aberdeen’s amazing coastal wildlife!
The Dolphinwatch team will provide information, binoculars and various drop-in activities for families. Keep an eye out for special additional events such as guided walks, rockpool rambles and beach cleans.

– Self-led rock-pooling – find the mysterious creatures of the rocky shore with the help of our spotter sheets.
– Arts and crafts- make your own dolphin kite or jellyfish decoration.
– Marine treasures learn about some of the amazing animals we have found around our coast.
– Limpet stacking competition – see if you can beat the high score! Prizes to be won!
– Guess the Dolphin’s Birthday – have a go at guessing the birthday with more prizes to be won!
– Face painting, dolphins, octopus and much, much more!

Anchor Family Fun Day

Anchors away with Anya, Gary and local boy Kevin (formerly the stars of The Singing Kettle) for their all new show for 2017 – UNDERWATER ADVENTURE where they voyage beneath the waves to the bottom of the ocean. There’s somefin fishy going on in their latest singalong tail – the FUNBOX is locked and the gang will have to cause a splash because their magical keys are all tucked up in the sea bed. Can they find them all in time? Fluffy and Flossie the Funsters will be diving in to lend a hand, Fairy Fran takes the plunge to cause mayhem and of course everyone’s favourite salty sea dog; Bonzo will be joining the aquatic action – but has he packed his trunks and rubber ring?
Packed with familiar favourites like ‘My Father Went To Sea, Sea, Sea’, ‘The World Must Be Coming To An End’ and ‘Hole At The Bottom Of The Sea’ as well as brand new songs, UNDERWATER ADVENTURE is the perfect swimalong singalong treat for kids of all ages – from nought to ninety!
Dress up for the sea and join in the fun – dress as a mermaid or come as a fish – you’ll have a whale of a time. You may even get to help on stage!

Butterfly Walk

Description: On a warm summer day, Haddo’s ancient wildflower meadows are full of spectacular coloured butterflies and other insects. We’re delighted to have Dr Mark Young from Butterfly Conservation joining us for this event, where we’ll try to identify all our common butterfly and day-flying moth species, with a good chance of scarcer species including Painted Lady. We’ll also look for bees, hoverflies and dragonflies and, weather permitting, we’ll set up a moth trap overnight.
This event is aimed at adults and older children and will involve a walk of approximately two miles.

Lifeboat Gala Day

Description: The return of our biennial lifeboat gala.
Once again we’ll be taking over the fish market and harbour for our gala day.
Just some of the things you can look forward to this year.
Lifeboats! We’ll be welcoming our colleagues from our flank stations RNLI Buckie Lifeboat & Fraserburgh Lifeboat.
We are also hoping that the last all-weather lifeboat to be stationed in Macduff, the Douglas Currie, will be coming to Macduff again this year.
Helicopter! Subject to operational requirements, we will have the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Inverness coming in to Banff Bay between Macduff and Banff.
Safety Checks, once again we will be offering free lifejacket safety checks. We will have members of our Community Safety team at the event and if you bring your lifejacket along, they will check that everything is ok with it and offer sea safety advice.
Live music we have some great live music lined up for you this year.
Outside on the harbour the almost legendary Crew BBQ will be fired up, serving burgers, hotdogs & fish.
In the Fish Market we will have lots of fund raising stalls
Raffles | Bottle stall | Gin & Whisky Trail | Face Painting
and our new food area Bistro 804 where you can get a fly cup and a fancy piece, or soup and a sandwich.
