Nature Reserve Conservation Day – Pond Pick me up!

Description: Help the Countryside Rangers make more space for our newts and other freshwater animals and plants by clearing vegetation away from the pond.
Gloves, tools, and hot drinks will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Don’t forget to wear wellies!
Meet at the reserve car park at Abbotswell Crescent. First bus 18 stops next tot he car park.

WrestleZone- Live In Newtonhill

Description: A return to the Bettridge Centre in Newtonhill is in their sights, as the WrestleZone grapplers continue their first foots into 2018.
Bodyslams and suplexes are on the bill as the thrilling family-friendly action gets ready to rock the Aberdeenshire Town on Saturday 3rd February.
And what better way to see of the cold than support your local WrestleZone heroes such as “The Revolutionary” Damien, “Red-Haired Warrior” Scotty Swift and “Fully Loaded” Zach Dynamite.
Previous events at the Bettridge Centre have whipped up a storm and we can’t wait to see what the wrestlers have in store for this year’s event.
You can pick-up advance e-tickets now from Ringside World which give you priority entry to the event. These are priced £12 for adults and £10 for under 14s.

Spectra 2018 Light Festival

Description: Running for four nights between the 8th–11th February 2018 SPECTRA, Aberdeen’s stunning Festival of Light, will return to celebrate the Scottish Year of Young People through this year’s theme ‘Play the Night’. Bringing together leading international artists with Scottish collaborators and developing new talent, the festival will deliver a four-day light and music exhibition using new technologies and tools to animate Union Terrace Gardens, the Kirk of St Nicholas, and Marischal College.
Alongside our oustanding light festival, we are introducing our new music programme to SPECTRA 2018. Music venues across the city will be brought to life by a smorgasbord of Nordic and UK talent with late night sessions with some of Europe’s top DJ’s. The line up for the music programme will be announced next week -stay tuned for more info!
Our two-day Catalyst Conference also returns on 9-10 February and will bring together successful cultural leaders, artists and experts from across Europe and within the UK to present their strategy around cultural development in Aberdeen.
Organised by Aberdeen City Council in partnership with Curated Place, SPECTRA will once again light up the winter nights offering more experiences of light and sound than ever before.

Wild & Woolly Tales of Aberdeen

Description: A selection of tall tales, half-truths and actual whacky happenings from Aberdeen’s history and folklore. Did you know that Harry Houdini, world famous escapologist came to Aberdeen in 1908 and carried out a crazy stunt in the Dee? Was William Wallace’s arm buried in Old Aberdeen or Torry? Did Hitler really plan to use Marischal College if the Nazis had invaded Scotland? And did a woman and her son kill the Laird of Northfield centuries ago?
These and many more urban legends of the city will be presented in the cosy surroundings of our new favourite venue, The Cult of Coffee – owners Paul and Louise say they will have loads of new cakes to tempt you, so do join us for this storytelling event.

Description: It’s time for our first Nearly New Sale of the year, as our sellers have a huge post Christmas clearout.
Volunteers are on hand for advice and help during the sale, if you have a shopping list ask a volunteer to point you in the right direction.
We will lend you a shopping bag to collect your goodies in then have a one stop checkout with chip and pin facilities, also a reclaim area where large bulky items can be safely left whilst you continue to shop.
Cots, toys, highchairs, walkers, puzzles, bouncy chairs, bikes, ride on’s, bumbo’s, stair gates, more toys, books, DVD’s, computer games, curtains, lampshades, bedding, maternity equipment & clothing, dressing up clothes, more toys, moses baskets, prams, slings, re-useable nappies, clothes carefully displayed from newborn up to approx 10 years, scooters, carriers, playmats, bouncy chairs, jumperoo’s, travel cots, kids furniture – all dependant on what our sellers decide to bring! We can’t sell baby car seats or items that require a plug.
Our sales are 100% powered by volunteers and a % of the takings goes back into the NCT the UK’s largest parenting charity to support work locally and nationally.
