EOWDC Family Turbine Spotting Event

Where: Balmedie Country Park, North Beach Rd, AB23 8XG Aberdeen

Date:  Saturday 12th May 2018
Time:  12:00 – 16:00

Description: Vattenfall, developers of Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, also known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), would like to invite you and your family to join some of the project team and their community partners at Balmedie Country Park (near the disabled access) to see the wind farm during construction.

The project team will be at the beach and at the nearby Sand Bothy to answer any questions about the EOWDC, and if we are lucky there may even be a live installation! There will also be refreshments, home bakes and ice cream at the Sand Bothy, and a variety of activities from 12-4 which the community partners involved will give you more details about. We look forward to seeing you there.

Weather: we will be there rain or shine.

Parking : There is public parking at Balmedie Country Park however please note that owners park at their own risk.

Description: A brand new tour for 2018! Beginning at the cosy indie coffee shop, “The Cult of Coffee” on the corner of Leadside Road and Esslemont Avenue, this walk takes in a mix of old Gilcomston, ancient Denburnside, and the 19th century suburb of Rosemount which was created out of both.

Mysteries to behold include the Denburn river on FULL VIEW, the site of the Gilcomston Dam, and why the Grammar School didn’t actually start where it is now.

Georgian mansions, Victorian innovation, schools, churches, tradespeople and that undulating landscape that we can’t see for the buildings! All will be revealed in this very special ramble around Rosemount.

Not suitable for disabled or those with restricted mobility.
Wear sturdy shoes. Dogs welcome if well-behaved.

The North of Scotland Pipe Band Championship

Description: The Fairies and Unicorns are descending on Deeside

The Belwade fairies and unicorns are set to return on the 13th of May to inhabit the Magical Woodland for the year ahead.  We plan to celebrate their return at this years Fairy Day which promises to be a magical experience for those who attend.

Belwade Farm is certainly a place where magical dreams are made true and this year our magical unicorn is returning with his friends and they will be offering unicorn rides to our little visitors.

Meet our Belwade ponies and horses who will be dressed to impress along side the stunning unicorn. Love Rara Fairies will be here again with dancing and singing and being creative with fantastic face painting.

Inflatables, tea cups, carousel, mini jumps are a few of the fun activities that will be on offer.  Bobs Buddies adorable owls will be back to see you all.

Trade stands will be in the conference room so remember to visit and pick yourself up a momentum from you magical day.

Please note that there will be charges for individual activities on the day.  Included within your ticket price is car parking, meeting the Belwade unicorn & friends, access to the magical woodland, our story teller and fairy dancing sessions.

Bistro will be open for teas, coffees, hot chocolates and delicious treats and outside we have ice cream, pizzas, burgers and more…

Baby Carrier Drop In Session – Bridge of Don

Description: We’re delighted to be able to hold a Baby Carrier Drop In Session every month in Bridge of Don

Feel free to bring your stretchy wrap from the Scottish Baby Box as we’d love to give you a hand.

There will be trained baby carrying advice from Jess Hippey, owner of Close and Calm, and a large selection of carriers and wraps available for trying and for hiring. Should you wish to go on to buy a carrier after this, please inform Jess as discount codes are available for customers.

We will charge a £2 entry fee to cover room hire, insurance and professional fees. Children are always welcome.

We’re very lucky to also have a breastfeeding peer supporter present at most meetings.

We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch and look forward to meeting you. Our hope is to try and build an informative and supportive community so the more the merrier.
