Weekend Photos | Friday 28th April – Monday 1st May 2017
For the May Day long weekend some friends and I headed to the Isle of Mull for a mini break whilst the boys headed up the road to visit Granny & Grandad.
This is my weekend in photos with the girls on the Isle of Mull.
Friday 28th April 2017
Just one photo to sum up Friday, the ferry to Mull. After finishing work early on the Friday we headed to Oban to catch the ferry, we were a wee bit too late to catch the one we had been planing on getting at 8pm so had a couple of hours in Oban before catching the 9.45pm ferry crossing.
Once on Mull it was a 45 minute car journey to our accommodation near Calgary Bay – one thing to look out for on the roads in the dark is the sheep sleeping in the middle of the road!

Ben More – My first Munro
Our plan for Saturday was to go up Ben More, the only Munro on the island, but to get to the starting point of the walk we had to walk an hour and a half due to one of the roads being closed – it was that or a long drive round the island to get to the other side of the closure.
It was far too windy to risk taking my camera out at the top, not that there was a view to see as we couldn’t see a thing due to the cloudy and rainy weather!

Calgary Bay
We started the day by heading down to Calgary Bay which was a short walk from the apartment we were staying in.
Isle of Iona
Then it was back into the car for a drive round the island to Fionnphort so we could catch the ferry to Iona.
One thing Iona is known for is it’s gorgeous white sandy beaches and they did not disappoint. The island is such a lovely place to visit and explore!
Tobermory
We then headed back up the island to Tobermory in search of somewhere to go for dinner and to see the coloured houses it’s famous for as they were the location for children’s tv programme Balamory.

Calgary
It was time to say goodbye to the Calgary loft apartment which had been our home for the previous 3 nights and head off to explore more of the island before our 5pm ferry back across to the mainland.
Aros Park
We headed to Aros Park for a walk which was close to Tobermory and had gorgeous views over to the bay at Tobermory.
We made a few stops on the journey back to Craignure, where the ferry terminal is. Firstly stopping to see the boat ruins beside the shore.
Then finding a spot with a view to have our packed lunches.
Duart Castle
We then headed to Duart Castle. Unfortunately the castle currently had scaffolding on the outside but the views around it were amazing – made even better by the glorious sunshine and 17 degree heat.
Goodbye Mull
Then it was time to catch the ferry across to Oban, which gave us some lovely views of the island and it’s coastline.
We then popped out for dinner in Oban before the car journey back up to Aberdeen. After arriving home at 11.30pm it was straight off to bed before heading back to work on the Tuesday morning.
