REVIEW: My Fairy Kitchen Garden

We were lucky enough to be gifted the My Fairy Kitchen Garden set and S couldn’t wait to have a look! He loved the idea of creating the little fairy garden for Fairy Fenn.

The fairy kitchen garden allows your little one to grow micro greens which they can actually eat!

What’s in the box

The box contains:

  • Windowsill Planter
  • Fairy Fenn
  • Fairy House
  • Picket Fence
  • Pea Shoot Seeds
  • Instruction Booklet

All you need to add compost…. and a little bit of magic!

Setting up the garden

Before you can set up the garden the pea shoot seeds need to be soaked for 12-24 hours. Once Grandad brought round some compost we were good to go!

S took his job of planting the pea shoot seeds and fitting the picket fence very seriously… as you can tell from his concentration face!

Once set up we decided the living room windowsill was the best place for our fairy garden to go – mainly as it allows S to check on it each day, either from checking on it from the sofa or looking through the window as we do in or out of the front door. He’s so excited to see what will happen!

What we thought

I think this is a fab idea for introducing children to the idea of growing plants and explaining where foods come from. I can’t wait until the pea shoots appear and S can trim them to try them out.

It also teaches him the responsibility of watering the garden to allow the shoots to grow.

The fairy kitchen garden is priced at £11.99 and aimed at children ages 4+ years old. For the price I think it’s great value for money as it is an activity that can be used over and over again.

Interplay have a whole Fairy Garden range which you can find over on their website. All the sets look super cute and I think they would make a fab present for any little boy or girl!

I also think they would be good for a school holiday activity and great for children to see how well they grow over the holidays.
