Finding a support network of mums who really get what you are going through is so important, and that’s how the group came to be. There’s no expectations, and no judgement – just come as you are (even if you are on day 3 of dry shampooing your hair) and find hot tea/coffee, cake, sling advice and support, + lots of reassuring and inspiring chat from mums who ‘get it’.

And the support doesn’t end there – join the Solasta Mama’s Facebook group to connect with other local mums, and share the trials, tribulations and triumphs of life with a tiny human, without having to move off the sofa  http://www.facebook.com/groups/solastamamameetups

Review | Chad Valley Play Chef Toy Kitchen

Review | Chad Valley Play Chef Toy Kitchen

As part of the Chad Valley Play Panel S was kindly sent the Chad Valley Play Chef Toy Kitchen to try out and review. The play kitchen is aimed at children ages 3+ years old and is currently priced at £44.99 over on Argos.

Easy to follow instructions

The instructions for building the kitchen were straight forward and it took me around 30 minutes to build the kitchen – including adding the stickers, which thankfully there weren’t many of! I built it in the evening when S was sound asleep, otherwise it would probably have taken three times as long as he likes to ‘help’.

Encouraging imaginative play

S was excited as soon as he seen the kitchen built up and waiting for him in the living room – straight away he set off making breakfast for me! His food combinations and creations are questionable at times though but I love hearing what his latest creation is – his latest being “Egg Burger”.

Everything for the budding chef

The kitchen comes with a menu and order notepad, perfect for little ones to role play restaurants. Then they can head back to the kitchen and cook your meal before presenting their creation on the dishes included.

The kitchen comes with a selection of accessories including cutlery, pots and pans, plates, bowls and range of food items.

The multi-functional kitchen includes lights and cooking sounds so they can imagine the fire on the hob sizzling away and the ping of the oven to know the meal is ready.

Hours of fun

I love watching S develop through imaginative play and this toy kitchen is a great addition to his play corner. You can usually hear him chatting away in the corner acting out stories with his toys – including cooking and serving meals to his soft toys and dolls.

Chad Valley Toy Range

If you haven’t seen our previous Chad Valley posts you can check them out here. Chad Valley toys are exclusive to Argos and are designed with creative imaginative play in mind to encourage little ones to learn through play the old fashioned way.

Review | Chad Valley Road Rippers

Review | Chad Valley Road Rippers

If you don’t already know, we are lucky to be part of Chad Valley’s Play Panel. S has been busy testing out their selection of Road Rippers vehicles which are aimed at children aged 3+ years old.

Chad Valley Road Rippers Double Decker Bus

First up is the Chad Valley Road Rippers Double Decker Bus, which was made to look just like the red buses you would see in London. The bus has a range of interactive buttons on the top which make engine sounds, a horn and play music as well as a button which sets the bus off on it’s journey.

Even the doors open and close. S found the bus great for racing across the living room floor and also driving along his play mat. The Chad Valley Road Rippers Double Decker Bus is currently priced at £12.99.

Chad Valley Road Rippers Garbage Truck

Next up is the Chad Valley Road Rippers Garbage Truck. Just like the bus it has a range of buttons on the top for driving the truck froward, music and setting off the lights.

“Just like the bin man”

The garbage truck comes with a wheelie bin which can be lifted up to the truck at the touch of a button – just like the real thing!

S has discovered that the wheelie bin can fit quite a bit of chalk crayons in it – as I found them hidden inside! The Chad Valley Road Rippers Garbage Truck is currently priced at £12.99.

Chad Valley Road Rippers Monster Croc Truck

The third vehicle in the range is the Chad Valley Road Rippers Monster Croc Truck. This truck can roar into action – and as I’ve found out, chase mummy across the living room floor, much to S’ amusement.

“Chase Mama”

It plays arena rocking songs, monster motor sounds and has a motorised driving button which sends it off, giving a wheelie action as part of it’s tricks.

Out of the 3 vehicle’s I think this was his favourite – mainly for the above reasons! It is currently priced at £9.99 with the usual RRP of £11.99.

Plenty of Stories to Create

Overall S has loved playing with these three vehicles in the Chad Valley Road Rippers and I have loved hearing him playing away using his imagination to make up stories of the adventures the vehicles get up to – usually with the Monster Croc Truck chasing everyone!

If you have your own tools please bring them along. We do have a limited supply of sheath knives and folding saws – please let us know in advance if you would like to borrow any of these.

You may also wish to bring along something to sit on and hot drinks/snacks – wrap up warm as it can get quite cold when sitting for longer periods.

Everyone is welcome, although we would ask that children are accompanied (and supervised) by an adult.

Meet at the Pheasantry at 2.00pm, or come and find us in the outdoor classroom (weather-permitting). No booking required but feel free to email Suzanna – haddo@visithaddo.com if you have any questions.
