1. Bookbug Session – Grampian 30 before 3 | Mummy Mimi

Number one on 30 things to do before you’re 3 in Grampian is:

Visit a local library for free stories, songs and rhymes at a Bookbug session

S has previously been to a number of Bookbug sessions at a couple of our local libraries, however due to our schedules he had not been in a while.

As part of the May Festival  at the end of May there was a couple of bookbug sessions and we managed to get tickets to go along to the Sunday session (after a colleague who could no longer make it along passed on her tickets)

Bookbug sessions are a great way to introduce you little ones to rhymes, songs and stories. The sessions are 30 minutes long and are free to attend. I would highly recommend checking out your library for local sessions. I found them great for something to do when off on maternity leave and S always seemed to enjoy them!

Our Weekend in Photos (11-12th June 2016) | Mummy Mimi

Our weekend in photos, 11th- 12th June 2016.

On Friday night Daddy went round to his friends to watch the football so me and S had a chilled out evening in front of the TV. Then after he was off to bed and I could change the channel to something other than kids TV, I caught up on a weeks worth of Hollyoaks, painted my nails with Shellac gel and tried the Rekorderlig Passionfruit Cider Cocktail.

Late Saturday morning me & S headed to Duthie Park for an Aberdeen Bloggers meet up. This what the first time we had met other bloggers in person and was lovely to meet Karen, SarahAnastasiaEmma plus the wee toots Sorsha & Matilda. After some time in the winter gardens, we popped to the cafe for a coffee and a chat.

We then headed off to the 2nd birthday party of one of S’ second cousin’s. S had fun playing with all the toys, however I think he enjoyed running around with one of the balloon at then end the most! (That will be his birthday list sorted then!)

On Sunday Daddy was working the late shift instead of his usual early shift so we headed off to Aldi and Iceland to get some food shopping done. After Daddy headed off to work I made some yummy egg muffins for our lunch, which I think S managed to throw most of his on the floor! Then the rest of the day was a chilled day with a drive to get S to nap as he was getting overtired then odd jobs and chores at home, including trying to sort out S’ little play area in the living room.

Today (Monday 13th June 16) after 2 weeks of various lengths of settling in sessions S went off to nursery for his first full day. It sounds like he had a ball, but clearly didn’t tire him out as he is currently still up as I write this at the back of 10pm!

0

With Father’s Day, Sunday 19th June 2016, fast approaching I took to the internet to see what I could find for S to give to his dad.

As we are currently on a tight budget I was looking at what I could get for £20 so here are some of my favourite ideas for under £20 each!

What S has ordered his Daddy will remain a secret in case he happens to read this before Father’s Day!

Have you found any fab Father’s Day ideas, let me know at @mummy_mimi!

Our Weekend in Photos (4th – 5th June 2016)

Our weekend in photos, 4th-5th June 2016

Saturday

Me and S headed to Taste of Grampian with a friend and picked up some nachos from the Fresh Mex stand for lunch.

After having a look around the stands S spotted the area with the farm animals with the sheep being his favourites.

After heading home, which took far too long due to the ongoing roadworks, we had some fun in the garden with Daddy before he headed off to help a friend with some DIY.

As it was a lovely sunny day me and S picked up some ice lollies from the shop and what a mess a toddler can make with an ice lolly!

Sunday

We had a trip to Hazlehead park for a play date with S & J. The boys had fun playing in the park and then exploring Pets Corner.

Later on after Daddy got home from work the three of us headed out for a pre dinner walk.

Carrying S in our Toddler Connecta on my back it means we can go for walks where we would never have managed to go with the buggy, so we had a lovely walk to a local harbour.

So that was our sunny weekend and I now have some red sunburn patches to show for it!

Our Weekend in Photos (28-29 May 16)

Our weekend in photos, 28th – 29th May 2016…

Saturday

  • I need new glasses as my current glasses are now too strong for my eyes, but after picking out a couple pairs in ASDA I decided to leave ordering until I take A to get his opinion. Not being able to see properly makes it hard to make a decision on which suit me!
  • Quick nap for S and a cuppa for me.
  • We then headed to the May Festival to meet A after he finished work, and to have a look around.
  • S making friends with a ginger cat, he loves cats just now and this little ginger one was happy with all the attention.
  • Coffee and cake stop at Kilau. Yummy white chocolate & raspberry brownie with a latte for me, scone & hot chocolate for A and S had half chocolate brownie (mummy & daddy split the other half!)
  • Pre dinner evening walk to the harbour with S in my new toddler Connecta carrier, which I have fallen in love with already as it means we can go for walks which we wouldn’t have been able to do with the pram.

Sunday

  • We went back to the May Festival for a Bookbugs session.
  • Then checked out the Hall of Mayhem section where S loved the bouncy castle and ball pool.
  • Daddy then had to head off to work so the rest of the day was spent food shopping, house work and chill time together for me and S.

Photo Back Up Apps

After a recent conversation with a group of friends about broken phones and losing photos I thought a blog post on how I back up my iPhone photos would be a good idea!

Ever since the hard drive on my old laptop decided to die beyond recovery meaning photos I had taken during my first couple of years at uni (plus all the uni work I had done!) had been lost forever I ensure my photos are backed up reguarly.

I do back up all my photos on the iCloud but just in case, as I’m a bit paranoid about losing photos again, I also use the following apps:

Our Weekend in Photos (21-22nd May 16)

Our weekend in photos, 21st – 22nd May 2016…

  • Friday night trip to Costco for S and Igglepiggle (who kept jumping out the trolley, although I think he may have been pushed!)
  • Saturday morning shopping trip to Primark for to stock up on some 18-24 month clothes for S ahead as he’s now growing out of his 12-18 month clothes and also needs to get organised for starting nursery a few days per week next month.
  • Afternoon spend building towers, knocking them down then throwing the blocks at Mummy!
  • Walk along sunny Stonehaven beach
  • Sunday was spent food shopping then exploring the winter gardens at Duthie Park and hiding from the rain!
